Join the Sanare Centre team as the Men's Coordinator at Sanare Centre, the individual will be crucial in developing and implementing strategies to enhance men's engagement within the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) sector in southeastern Alberta. The primary objective will involve establishing a comprehensive Men's Employee Recruitment and Retention program alongside a Men's Network and Support Group. The responsibilities of the coordinator will encompass addressing the significant underrepresentation of men within the GBV sector. This will involve tackling the barriers they encounter in assuming leadership roles in gender equality work, such as limited capacity, institutional hurdles, disinterest, and social isolation. Through targeted initiatives, the coordinator will have the opportunity to dismantle these barriers and foster a more inclusive environment.

Position Responsibilities

  • Complete a provincial asset assessment specific to development of a Men’s recruitment and retention program, plus a Men’s network and support group through a gender-based violence lens
  • Capture and create a comprehensive and scalable strategy/model to build framework to support men within the gender-based violence sector that will include:
    • An innovative and effective employee recruitment and retention strategy.
    • Diversity, inclusion, and equity framework.
    • Development of strategies to increase interpersonal relationships and team cohesion.
    • Creation and implementation of a networking and support group for men working within the gender-based violence sector.
    • An evaluation framework that focuses on inclusion, retention rates, and key performance indicators.
  • Implement strategies both within Sanare and allied gender-based violence organizations.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop strategies for program longevity

  • Provide a satisfactory Criminal and a Child/Youth Intervention Record Check.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, or Social Work with a specialization in Leadership or related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • Any additional training and certification in Human Resource Management will be considered an advantage.
  • At least two years' related experience required.
  • Previous work experience within a social work or not-for-profit setting would be ideal but not required.

  • Demonstrate compassion through non-judgemental words and actions.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution.

  • Culturally sensitive and competent in addressing the needs of diverse populations.
