The Role:
The Instructor Therapist, Adult Services is responsible for working directly with adults with ASD and their families in the provision of an ABA Day Support program to include but not limited to, conducting assessments, writing, implementing, and monitoring behaviour plans, data collection and display, as well as training and supporting caregivers.

 

What your day looks like:
The Instructor Therapist Provide direct service in ABA (under the supervision of a BCBA, RBA Ont.) in a one-on-one and/or in a group setting to include but not limited to the following:
•Implementing programs according to the treatment plan.
•Carry a caseload of clients.
•Assist in the development and provide input into each client’s curriculum.
•Address personal care requirements of the client during each session.
•Monitor and track behavioural data/follow behavioural protocols.
•Prepare teaching materials.
•Record and graphs data, write reports and progress notes and flags exceptional circumstances as well as the need for changes to the program plan.
•Participate in the treatment planning process with caregivers and relevant others.
•Ensures ongoing communication with Clinical Supervisor
•Liaise daily with caregivers about the progress of the session.
•Liaise with external stakeholders.
•Lead crisis management techniques where necessary using Crisis Prevention and Intervention
•Organize weekly schedule for clients.
•Demonstrates and explains effective strategies; models, supports, mentors and guides the Junior Adult Instructor Therapists.

 

What you bring to the role:
•University degree or College diploma in behavioural sciences, social services, psychology or early childhood education.
•Minimum of 1 year work experience required (2 years work experience preferred).
•Previous experience working with adults with developmental disabilities and/or Autism.
•Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
•Team lead/mentor experience an asset.
•Have a good understanding of Developmental Services Ontario (DSO), autism and applied behaviour analysis.
•Available to work evenings, weekend, in home and centre based.
•An interest in professional development and further developing clinical skills.
•Strong interpersonal and time-management skills.
•Ability to work collaboratively with team members and accept feedback and direction.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills.
•Access to a reliable means of transportation (e.g., TTC, personal vehicle).
•Comfortable working in a structured environment.
•Demonstrated reliability and dependability.
•Satisfactory current Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check.
•Proof of full vaccination against COVID-19.

 

Working Conditions
•When necessary, must be able to wear a mask and shield throughout their shift
•Must be willing to do cleaning duties
•Ability to perform CPI interventions (training is provided)
•Manage challenging client behaviours

 

Salary: $58,078.16 -$ $65,111.84
