Boys & Girls Clubs Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton & Area is an organization that believes in the promise of all children.  Our team works with community volunteers, partners and other supporters to create safe environments for children to be between school and home and to provide caring mentoring relationships for children and youth. Salary Range:                    $100,000-$110,00 annually

 

 

The key responsibilities of this position will include:

  • Overseeing the fund development strategies to generate revenue to support the overall operation of the agency.
  • Participating in the grant and proposal process, supporting the collection and analysis of relevant information from BGCBigs departments to form the basis of proposals, grant applications, and donor stewardship reports.
  • Creating and maintaining up-to-date data, documents, reports, correspondence and schedules to support grant administration, data retrieval and reporting.
  • Overseeing the planning and execution of fund raising events and campaigns to promote monetary giving. Key activities include, but are not limited to; Dream Home Lottery, Planned Giving, Renew Crew Donation Bins.
  • Working closely with the marketing department to ensure the right mix of marketing and communication mediums are being used when planning fund raising events.
  • Delivering dynamic and engaging presentations to a variety of groups to share the message of giving in the agency with the intention of engaging businesses, partners and citizens to support our agency.
  • Stewarding agency partnerships that support and provide funds to the agency including grantors, supporters, partners and corporations.
  • Managing fund development direct reports and the projects and events within their portfolios.
  • Supervising direct reports by providing regular and appropriate direction, as well as guidance and coaching in relation to the goal achievement and performance.
  • Researching and developing new fund raising opportunities that are innovative and future oriented.

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • A degree in a related field (Business, Human Services, Communications) with a focus in the area(s) of fund raising and/or project manager. Alternate education credentials will be considered and supported with considerable experience in the field.
  • 8 years of experience in a managerial role in the non-profit sector supporting direct reports and project-based work. Combined experience should include a role involving fund raising activities as well as knowledge around the funding needs of non-profit organizations.
  • Excellent written communication and editing skills; demonstrated ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
  • Ability to understand and interpret budgets and financial reports.
  • Ability to plan and make decisions in a timely, organized and appropriate manner.
  • A proactive approach to known opportunities and the ability and desire to identify new opportunities for funding.
  • Excellent relationship building skills.
  • Ability to speak publicly, whether directly or indirectly to an audience.
  • Technical skills; solid knowledge base of information management systems and databases and proficient in Microsoft Office suite programs.
  • Ability to function independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to embrace and practice the agencies equity, diversity and inclusion philosophy and integrates this practice into their work and agency messaging.
  • Able to work flexible hours including evening and weekend availability. Agency operates with a 37.5 hours per week.
  • A clear Police Information Check and Child Intervention Record Check no more than 6 months old are conditions of hire.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
