Job Title: Outreach Worker – School Nutrition Program

Based at: Hope Mission Warehouse – 7011 Girard Road, Edmonton

Reports to: Coordinator, Warehouse Sandwich Program

Hours of work: 8am-4pm, Monday-Friday

Status: Full Time

Salary: $15/hour + 4% vacation pay

Hope Mission is a non-denominational Christian inner-city rescue mission based in Edmonton, Alberta. Hope Mission also has branches in Calgary, Red Deer, and Wetaskiwin, and two summer camps.

Job Summary:

A kitchen outreach worker in the school nutrition program will work with the team to prep and deliver bagged lunches to schools.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide snacks and meals for children and youth.
  • Make and deliver lunches to Edmonton schools.
  • Responsible for setup and clean-up of kitchen space.
  • Build rapport with volunteers, schools, and community partners.
  • Other related tasks and duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • Class 5 Driver’s License (required).
  • Physically able to lift up to 50lbs and stand for long hours.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • 1-2 years of experience working in a kitchen not required but an asset.
  • Experience driving a 12-passenger/cargo van not required but an asset.
  • Standard First Aid certification not required but an asset.

  • Flexibility: Willingness to adapt as program needs and opportunities change with a joyful attitude.

Other Requirements:

  • Being a Christian Organization, we require our employees to be in agreement and sign the Hope Mission Statement of Faith.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis.
  • Able to provide Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
  • A letter of reference from a ministry or church is an asset
  • Adherence to Hope Mission’s Policies and Procedures.
