Position: Senior Coordinator, Childcare Services - Full time

Hours: 35 hours/week

Location: Virtual and in-person at our Vancouver office
Compensation: $2
9-31 /hour, depending on qualifications
Start Date: As soon as possible

Pacific Immigrant Resources Society (PIRS) is a community-based, non-profit organization that has been serving immigrant and refugee women and their young children since 1975.

PIRS is looking for a Senior Coordinator to oversee our childcare services. This role involves coordinating daily operations, developing services, and ensuring high-quality service delivery. You will collaborate with stakeholders, develop business opportunities, and implement client retention strategies. Additionally, you will create employment opportunities in childcare for women facing barriers, mentor staff, and handle administrative tasks. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day childcare services, including coordination of work placements, service development, financial, employee, and client management activities
  • Serve as the main contact for information requests, inquiries, proposals, service costs, and client negotiations
  • Create processes to ensure projects meet timelines and deliverables, including monitoring, evaluation, and reporting
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with program operations and business activities
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify business growth and expansion opportunities, including potential clients
  • Promote Pop-Up Childcare and attract clients through marketing, outreach and awareness strategies
  • Manage client relationships and client retention
  • Create employment opportunities in childcare for women facing barriers to employment
  • Provide direction and mentorship to childcare staff and participants in work experiences
  • Oversee recruitment, training and management of childcare workers
  • Develop the curriculum and in-house programming for skill development and employment training

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of experience and education is preferred. A degree in business management, commerce, social entrepreneurship, or human and social development is also preferred
  • 2 - 3 years experience in supporting business growth that includes planning, strategy, client experience, HR management, financial management, and reporting or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Organizational, time management and problem-solving skills with work prioritization abilities
  • Interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills with the ability to negotiate and present to a variety of audiences and maintain a network of partners and supporters
  • Strong team building and people management, with the ability to coordinate a team
  • Excellent oral and written English language skills; additional language skills are an asset
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in using various software and digital tools
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a growth mindset, demonstrating adaptability and a quick learning ability
  • Experience working with immigrant &/or refugee women, understanding their barriers and unique needs
  • Attitudes and values aligned with the goals and philosophy of PIRS
  • Possession of non-judgmental and genuinely positive attitudes (culture, religion, sexuality, special needs) and freedom from stereotypes Experience in business development, marketing, communications, social and digital media
  • Understanding of early childhood care certification, programs and the childcare industry
  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle to travel between programs across Vancouver and in some Lower Mainland communities is an asset
