Are you an experienced grant writer with exceptional written communication skills and an interest in the arts? The Arts Council of Ladysmith and District (ACLD) is hiring a Grant Writer to secure available grant opportunities for the organization. 

For 20 years, the ACLD has been enhancing the vitality of the artistic community and developing the arts through education, exhibitions, and engagement. Who You Are

You are an exceptional communicator and story-teller with the ability to adapt your style depending on your audience. Organized and detail oriented, you easily stay on top of the various applications, reports, and deadlines that are part of the grant writing process. You have a can-do attitude and stay motivated to achieve the best results you can. You have strong interpersonal skills and are adept at building relationships with various stakeholders. Ideally, you’re passionate about the arts and feel a personal connection to helping the ACLD.

The Position

Reporting to the President of the Art Council, the Grant Writer is responsible for securing available grant opportunities for the ACLD.

Duties include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Assists the Board of Directors with identifying potential grants that align with the ACLD’s vision and objectives and keeps the President and Board of Directors informed of opportunities
  • Prepare grant submissions for review by the ACLD Board of Directors.
  • Manages a calendar of grant opening and closing dates
  • Tracks and completes grant reporting requirements
  • Administrative tasks related to the grant process as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years experience identifying, tracking and writing grants in a non profit setting
  • Excellent communication, writing, and editing skills, with the ability to adapt style dependent on the target audience
  • Experience with Monday, Google Drive, Docs and Sheets

  • Dependable and reliable.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • A commitment to the values of the ACLD
  • Work schedule flexibility is an asset. ​

This is a casual contract position with an anticipated schedule of 50 hours per year. Some fluctuation in hours can be expected.  

Compensation: $32 per hour
