Fire & Flower (legally United Girls of the World), is a heartful, dynamic, and impactful charity dedicated to empowering girls and non-binary youth in their complex journey into young womanhood/adulthood through transformative educational programs based on community-building, nature connection, and honouring the uniqueness of each individual. Position Overview: We are seeking a visionary and compassionate Executive Director to lead our organization into its next phase of growth and impact. The Executive Director will provide strategic leadership, drive fundraising efforts, and ensure operational excellence to advance our mission of empowering girls and non-binary youth.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute strategic and operational plans that align with the organization's mission and vision. Lead program expansion initiatives to reach more youth and communities effectively.
Fundraising and Development: Drive fundraising efforts through donor cultivation, grant writing, and innovative fundraising campaigns. Build and maintain relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders to secure financial support and partnerships.
Organizational Management: Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient program delivery, financial management, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Lead and mentor a small dedicated team to achieve organizational goals.
Advocacy and Outreach: Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization. Advocate for the rights and needs of girls and non-binary youth in educational settings and broader societal contexts. Build strategic alliances with like-minded organizations and
Board Relations: Work closely with the Board of Directors to provide regular updates, seek guidance on strategic decisions, and ensure strong governance practices.
Program Development and Management: Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs and camps. Ensure programs are innovative, impactful, and responsive to the needs of girls and non-binary youth.
Financial Stewardship: Manage the organization’s finances, including budget development, financial reporting, and ensuring transparency and accountability in financial practices. Work closely with the Board of Directors to develop financial strategies and monitor financial health.
Qualifications:
Passion for and commitment to empowering girls and non-binary youth.
5+ years of experience in nonprofit leadership, including strategic planning, fundraising and development, organizational management, and staff management.
Previous work in youth program management; experience in outdoor programming a huge asset.
Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets; familiarity with nonprofit financial management practices.
Experience with CRM and Donor Management Software, as well as Google Drive.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage diverse stakeholders as well as develop a robust donor framework.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective partnerships and collaborations.
Employment Length: Oct 1, 2024 - Mar 31, 2026 (18 months); employment thereafter contingent upon securing additional funding.
Salary: $73,500
Benefits: Two weeks paid vacation in addition to paid office closure between Christmas and New Years, work from home, develop your own schedule. We can also provide a work laptop, cell phone & basic plan, monitor, keyboard, headset, and desk chair for your home office for the duration of your employment.
