As our IT Director, you'll be working closely with our CFO to keep our technology running smoothly, both in our current gallery and in our exciting new space. You'll lead our fantastic IT team and ensure our tech infrastructure is top-notch. This includes looking after what we have now and helping to design and set up everything we’ll need in our new building, whether it's on-site or in the cloud. WHAT YOU WILL DO                                                                            

 

As our IT Director, you’ll be leading a team of 5-10 IT professionals. Your mission? To take our tech game to the next level! You'll work closely with our IT Steering Committee, the CFO, and our Senior Leadership Team to make sure our technology and processes align perfectly with the Gallery’s goals. This means keeping everyone in the loop and staying up-to-date with the latest tech trends and best practices in areas like cloud solutions, cybersecurity, and more. As our IT Director, your days will be dynamic and varied.  Some of your key responsibilities include:

 

Administration and Training 

  • Develop, communicate, and deploy IT policy and best practice guides for the Gallery 
    • Initiate training programs, workshops, and other instructive communication to support the secure and efficient use of technology
  • Manage and report on IT budget allocations which meet Gallery goals
    • Support the IT governance structure to improve decision making, IT spend optimization and cross-functional synergy.
    • Track and monitor consultants’ service agreements
    • Track and monitor all hardware and software installations
    • Implement and govern the Change Management Process
  • Oversee and determine timeframes for IT projects. 

 

Supervision and Staff Management 

  • Supervise and provide direction for IT team members
  • Recruit, select and motivate all reporting staff
  • Manage in a unionized environment and continue to represent the department in partnership with People & Culture

 

Application Landscape Planning and Maintenance 

  • Assist in establishing an annual and 5-year plan in coordination with the CFO as well as the IT Steering Committee that prioritizes strategic initiatives in coordination with the Gallery’s business plan 
  • Establish a solution evaluation framework that considers product, technical fit, and complexity, implementation methodology, support options and cost of ownership
  • Execute, evaluate and monitor application and network deployment and operation 

 

Cyber Security and Technology Resilience

  • Implement data protection measures and ensure cyber monitoring and detection 
    • Implement a scalable system which utilizes emerging technologies that assist with disaster recovery, storage, and remote access
    • Learn and pivot in preparation for the new building project

 

 WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

 

As an experienced IT leader, you hold a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.  You also bring 10+ years of experience working in IT operations and IT management roles.  Your skills are enhanced with demonstrated experience leading and managing large IT projects and the roll-out of IT infrastructure.  In addition, you have:

  • A firm grasp on IT infrastructure and operations best practices
  • Working knowledge of core IT technologies including but not limited to Networking, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, Ticket Tools; Retail, food services and fundraising software tools are an asset
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making aptitude 
  • Demonstrated experience in project and change management
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

  

WHAT WE PROVIDE FOR YOU

 

Salary Range:  $140,000 - $150,000

 

This is an excluded (non-unionized), permanent role. The compensation package is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and ability.  This is an in-office position at the Gallery’s downtown Vancouver location however, some flexibility exists for working from home.
