Status: Full-Time Temporary 8-Month Contract (37.5 hours per week)
Salary Range: $60,013-$66,244 annually
The key responsibilities for this position will include:
Overseeing the assessment and enrollment of youth, especially youth who have come from vulnerable, marginalized backgrounds including youth in care, indigenous youth and youth who identify as part of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, with the intention of creating and maintaining mentoring matches that have a positive impact.
Responsibility for all aspects related to engaging, enrolling, assessing, training, matching and match support for a variety of community-based mentoring matches including several new initiatives related to supporting vulnerable youth.
Complete file audits for all direct reports to ensure they are meeting national and agency standards/policies/procedures including child safety and best practice methods.
Audit and assess the data in the database to ensure the case management of clients and volunteers is captured in a meaningful and efficient way.
Ensuring the team engages, enrolls and matches youth in mentoring programs by using methods that assess for safety and the ability to achieve key positive outcomes.
Supporting the engagement of youth who are waiting for a match, providing them with a standard of service through other agency programs and opportunities.
Collaborating with the volunteer engagement and recruitment teams on recruitment and retention strategies to best support volunteers in their mentoring matches.
Overseeing the pre-match training for families and youth in Community Based Programs
Overseeing the team in their support of mentoring matches including providing opportunity to debrief and problem solve issues and needs.
Providing guidance to direct reports through leadership, supervision and performance management.
Building and managing relationships with agency partners, to understand and support youth who are from vulnerable background issues and trends in the community.
The successful candidate will have:
Degree or Diploma in Youth Development, Social Work, Indigenous Studies or another Human Services related field.
5 years of previous supervisory experience along with experience in a role involved with youth-based programming, case management, volunteer management and partnership development.
Extensive knowledge of how to work with vulnerable youth, youth in care and/or indigenous youth is an asset
Solid knowledge on how to engage children, youth and families through processes including assessment, screening and training.
Has experience in the supervision and support of staff and volunteers and the ability to facilitate, lead and motivate others. Must have the ability to evaluate direct reports.
Proven ability to be approachable, understanding, organized and efficient with excellent problem-solving skills.
An awareness and understanding of emerging issues facing children and families as well as the community resources available for families.
Proven ability to provide quality outcome-based programs, services and opportunities for children and families. Skilled and comfortable and accurate entering data into an electronic system and working with MS programs particularly SharePoint, Outlook, Word and Excel.
Valid Driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
Candidates must be capable of performing independently as well as part of a team environment and have excellent interpersonal skills.
