ABOUT US:

Located on the shores of Stave Lake in Mission, BC, just one hour east of Vancouver, Zajac Ranch for Children is situated on over 40 acres of pristine forested land. During the summer months, Zajac Ranch provides camps for children and young adults with chronic, life-threatening and/or debilitating conditions. In the off-season, Zajac Ranch welcomes school groups and private rentals. Revenue raised from site rentals goes to supporting Zajac Ranch for Children summer medical camps.

 

Reports to: Camp Director; Assistant Camp Director

 

Contract Details: Temporary seasonal contract (September 2024- October/ November 2024). Hours dependant on operational needs.

 

Position Summary:

Outdoor Education Facilitators will deliver program instruction, interact directly with children, and provide positive customer service to site rental groups. With the support of the Camp Director, Facilitators will deliver experiential, participant-focused programming with students from elementary and high schools, as well as adult retreat groups. 

Reporting to the Camp Director, Facilitators will be trained in all program areas at camp and will execute programming following all risk management, policies and procedures, and within the scope of their training. Facilitators will provide support in facility operations, as required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide the required skills and expertise learned in training to facilitate safe and effective programming.
  • Interact directly with children and encourage interaction between children.
  • Provide positive customer service to all guests and clients from schools, private rentals and retreats, and weddings.
  • Assist with general maintenance, cleaning, and site support duties as required for daily operation.
  • Ensure all participants and staff follow camp rules, respecting each other and the facility.

 

Qualifications

  • Standard First Aid & CPR-C
  • Criminal Reference Check with a Vulnerable Sector Screening issued no later than six (6) months preceding start date 
  • 2 Successful Reference Checks

 

Additional Qualifications (assets)

  • ACCT Level 1 or 2
  • NLS or willing to obtain
  • Preference given to those who have studied in a child development or outdoor recreation related field
