About Drive Happiness Seniors Association

Drive Happiness is a non-profit volunteer driving organization in Alberta. Our focus is meeting the transportation needs of older adults, helping them retain their independence, and creating awareness of social isolation in seniors.

 

About the Position

The Program Coordinator, Expansion is responsible for maintaining accurate account information, assisting with onboarding new clients, managing outreach activities, dispatching, and providing comprehensive administrative support for the expansion regions of the Seniors Assisted Transportation Program. This role also supports program growth, volunteer recruitment and retention efforts, and dispatch activities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about the non-profit sector.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

Database Management:

  • Maintain Accurate Account Information: Create and update the database's account information on members and drivers.
  • Troubleshooting: Address database issues promptly to ensure seamless operations and data integrity for statistical reports.

Client Onboarding:

  • Accept Applications: Review and process new client applications.
  • New Client Packages: Prepare and send out new rider packages.

Outreach:

  • Organizational Awareness: Work with partners and stakeholders to increase organizational awareness.
  • Events and Tradeshows: Attend events and tradeshows on behalf of the organization to promote its mission and programs.
  • Inquiry Management: Respond to all inquiry messages promptly and professionally.

Dispatch Assistance:

  • Call Management: Answer calls and forward them to the appropriate staff member.
  • Ride Information: Vet all calls and obtain detailed ride information from riders.
  • Scheduling: Accurately enter appointments in the scheduling database.

Administrative Support:

  • Daily Administrative Duties: Perform tasks such as filing, mail processing, record management, ordering office supplies, and equipment maintenance.
  • Executive Support: Assist with other duties as required at the direction of the Executive Director.

Volunteer Support:

  • Recruitment and Retention: Proactively recruit and retain volunteers to support the program.
  • Marketing and Communication: Investigate and implement innovative marketing and communication strategies to attract volunteers.
  • Promotion: Attend fairs and trade shows to promote volunteer recruitment and organizational awareness.
  • Training: Assist the Volunteer Coordinator in training volunteers on the use of database software.
  • Database Support: Troubleshoot database issues for volunteers to maintain data integrity for statistical reports.

 

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Preferably in Social Sciences, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in program coordination, volunteer management, or a related role within a non-profit organization.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of people.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, database management, and volunteer management software.
  • Problem-solving: Ability to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions.

  • Environment: This is an onsite position at the Drive Happiness Edmonton office, with occasional travel to program sites, community events, and partner organizations.
  • Hours: Standard workweek, with occasional evening and weekend hours required for events and activities.
  • The successful candidate must have a vehicle and a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
