Maintaining and generating long-term support from the community of the Vancouver Art Gallery, while reporting to the Director of Audience Development, Membership Programs is responsible for overseeing and implementing membership campaigns.

 

What You Will Do

 

As the Membership Programs Specialist, you will:

  • Design, plan and implement membership acquisition, retention and promotional campaigns for membership retention and renewal. While identifying target groups or possible market expansion.
  • Supervise the clerical functions associated with processing memberships including overseeing the renewal process; attending to and resolving membership renewal problems; provide direction to data entry staff or volunteer engaged in support activities.
  • Coordinate the cultivation, solicitation and recognition process for assigned supporters.
  • Liaise with the Database Coordinator to define membership needs in the Gallery’s integrated fundraising database; ensure membership data is entered in a timely and accurate manner.
  • In consultation with the Director of Audience Development and Marketing, the membership program specialist will set annual membership budgets.  Track expenditures, produce month-end and year-end financial and membership reports as well as next-day post event campaign results.
  • Create promotional partnerships in-line with the exhibition schedule and collaborating with the Annual Giving Manager in identifying opportunities to graduate members to higher levels of giving.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities for the Membership Administrators, Membership Clerks and Membership Desk Staff reporting directly to the Membership Program Specialist.
  • Supports the Gallery’s overall goals towards a cohesive brand voice and identity.  
  • Any other tasks which may be assigned to you.

 

This role contributes to the overall success of the Communications team and ensures contribution to the Gallery’s strategic goals.

 

What You Bring to the Role

 

We are seeking a candidate who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Commerce, Marketing or a related field, with three years’ experience in progressively more responsible Membership positions.

 

In addition, you will have:

  • Previous responsibilities for planning and undertaking promotional programs and Membership cultivation in addition to supervisory experience required.
  • Experience working in a non-profit setting.
  • Excellent fundraising and Membership database skills (preferably Raiser’s Edge) and intermediate to advanced MS Office skills are required.
  • Excellent writing, interpersonal, and oral communication skills.
  • Organizational capabilities and the ability to supervise and coordinate all Membership activities.
  • Proven ability to work in a tactful and professional manner with the public, Members, donors, volunteers and colleagues required.

 

COMPENSATION AND WORK ENVIRONMENT    

 

Pay Grade 23: Step 1 $32.46 per hour

Hours:  Monday to Friday; 9am to 5pm. FLEX schedule. 35hrs per week

 

This is a unionized position. This assignment falls under the jurisdiction of CUPE Local 15 – VMECW. 

This is an in-office position at the Gallery’s downtown Vancouver location; however, some flexibility exists for working from home.
