Our Restorative Justice Program facilitates a restorative approach in achieving justice by engaging those involved in harmful and/or criminal events, in dialogue about harm, reparation, accountability, and supports while addressing the needs of all parties.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

The Clinical Counselor is responsible for providing clinical counselling for youth 12-17 years of age referred by the Youth Restorative Justice Connections Program. The Counsellor will provide brief therapeutic interventions as required to address the service plan.

The program assists youth that are involved in the Criminal Justice System. Youth are assisted to access other community resources and networks to maximize their functioning.

 

Counselling services are provided to support goals and achieve outcomes specified in the service plans determined through the integrated case management process. Clinical supervision occurs at least monthly with verbal discussion of each case, clinical files are reviewed with authorization noted in the file, video recording, audio recording and /or group supervision may be used as a method of supervision.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education, Training and Experience

 

Minimum of a Master’s degree in counseling or clinical psychology or social work; RCC (British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors) or CCC or RSW; 3-5 years of related experience working with families in a counseling setting.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated experience with clinical assessments, risk assessments, various therapy modalities including Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) work and a Trauma Informed approach. The desire and ability to update knowledge and skills through technology-based opportunities, courses, workshops and conferences. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to engage and interact in a relevant fashion be open minded and non-judgmental within our diverse youth population. Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a moving and innovative work place.

 

Shift/Schedule/Hours per week: Part-time, 7 hours per week

Expected Start Date: ASAP

Wage/Salary: starting at $43.03 / hour
