ICWA (www.icwaedmonton.org) is a voluntary not-for-profit registered charitable organization dedicated to serving immigrants in Edmonton since 1984. Our goal is to help new immigrants participate fully in the economic, social and political life in Canada.
We are seeking an inspiring, passionate and dynamic leader to take on the role of our new Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities
Reports to the President of the ICWA Board of Directors.
Implements the major goals and objectives of the Association in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
Advises the Board of staffing requirements and supervises salaried and contract staff and volunteers.
Oversees the day-to-day operations of the organization.
Executes Association programs and services including events and meetings.
Prepares annual budget for Board approval; manages budget and submits reports to
Prepares proposals for grant applications and ensures funding objectives are met.
Leads the organization’s digital transformation initiatives.
Networks and collaborates with stakeholders and community partners.
Acts as the primary spokesperson for the Association.
Carries out other duties as assigned by the Board.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (post-graduate preferred) in sociology, social work or another relevant area.
Three to five years of management experience in the not-for-profit sector.
Experience working with a volunteer Board.
Fluency in English and Hindi (proficiency in other South Asian languages is considered an asset).
Experience in supervising, developing and mentoring staff.
Demonstrated fundraising and grant writing experience.
Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation and reporting.
Effective writing, public speaking and presentation skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows.
Experience leveraging digital technologies to optimize operational processes.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary for the Executive Director is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The total package includes health benefits, paid vacation and a hybrid work environment.
