Mission Possible is a non-profit organization and social enterprise located in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. We support individuals challenged by homelessness, poverty, addiction, mental illness, and other barriers to employment to achieve a renewed sense of dignity and purpose through meaningful work. Through our Employment Readiness Program and our social enterprises, we equip our program participants with the skills, confidence, and support they need to rejoin the workforce and rebuild a self-sustaining livelihood for themselves.

Are you passionate about supporting individuals to better connect to community resources, organizations, and opportunities? The Community Services Coordinator will take the lead on this pilot program’s design and operations. The coordinator will provide direct support to participants in Mission Possible’s Employment Readiness Program to research, connect, and refer participants to opportunities that fit their needs in the community. These needs will include social housing, government benefits, ID replacement, subsidies, and other social programs designated for low-income individuals.

A significant part of this role will focus on developing and cultivating relationships with Mission Possible’s community partners, with the purpose of providing direct referrals to participants to enhance access to support services. The coordinator will also organize resource sharing events at Mission Possible, and develop innovative programming that takes a creative and empowering approach to resource connection and capacity building. 


Key Areas of Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of the program’s design and operations at Mission Possible with the aim to better connect program participants with community-based resources that meet their needs
  • Steward Mission Possible’s partnerships with social housing providers, organizations, and social service providers in the community to enhance access to various services for participants
  • Meet one-on-one with participants and let them lead with their own goals that enhance their community connections to supports outside Mission Possible
  • Provide support to participants with identifying and applying for applications for housing, benefits, or other needs 
  • Provide support in facilitating connections between participants and partner service providers
  • Accompany participants off-site to meetings or appointments when appropriate
  • Research and stay up-to-date on the latest community support services
  • Compile and maintain database of community support services   
  • Conduct surveys, assessments, and write reports to demonstrate impact of program
  • Organize resource sharing events for participants with various organizations, agencies, and service providers 


ABOUT YOU

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Strong analytical, research, and writing skills 
  • Experience with community-based partnership building; specifically in the DTES is an asset but not required 
  • Experience working with individuals who experience barriers to accessing resources
