Residential Care Worker

on-call / relief / casual  •  $25.95 - $29.76 per hour

Assists individuals to live successfully in SACL group homes. Supports individuals to enhance their quality of life through the greatest degree of independence, social participation, and well-being possible. Contributes to the development of the Person-Centered Plan and ensures individual's needs are met.

Qualifications

 

Must Have:

Community Service Worker Certification or equivalent

1-3 years of experience in Community Living, preferably in a residential setting

Completed and approved Criminal Record Check (CRC)

Negative T.B. test results

Doctor's Certificate of ability to perform all necessary physical duties

Unrestricted Class IV Driver's Licence preferred, not required

Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence required

Driver’s Abstract

First Aid & C.P.R. Certificate (Current)

CPI/MANDT Training

Experience in life-skills training procedures, goal-setting and implementation, report writing

Ability to model appropriate behaviour (dress, age, etc.)

Ability to work as a team member

Good Interpersonal Skills

Current knowledge of behaviour management theory and implementation

Sign language skills preferred

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct service to individuals with developmental disabilities
Training/ supervision and assistance in all areas of life-skills

Planning and assisting in participation of all activities and routines of normal community living for residents

Maintenance of appropriate records and financial documentation (including resident files, daily log & communication books)

On-going liaison with parents, day program, recreation departments, social workers, etc.

Participation in monthly staff meetings

Develop PCP strategies and objectives as required or in accordance with PCP goals

Participation in regular housekeeping/yard work as needed or scheduled

Other duties assigned by supervisor

Comply with the policies, procedures and practices of the Association

Plan and implement community inclusion activities to enhance quality of life and social well-being of people served

Must be willing/able to drive company vehicles OR own vehicle, based on program needs, if own vehicle used, must have business insurance with $3,000,000 liability
