Job Summary:
The Food Bank Float Worker is part of a skilled team that supports individuals and families in dealing with issues of food security, poverty, social isolation, and opportunity. This position works as a member of a team to create access to food and use a client centered approach to support individuals and various programs. The position will provide coverage for the daily operations of the Archway Food Bank and the programs it runs, including Client Services, Fresh Food Recovery, Hamper Distribution, Home Delivery, Starfish Pack, the Christmas Bureau and Administration. The Food Bank Float Worker will be a versatile and flexible member of the team capable of supporting all programs, and working where needed on any particular day.
Your Role:
Archway’s Food Bank Float Worker with the Food Bank contributes by:
• Performing client services and assisting with intake for food distribution programs and events, collecting client information for the purpose of fulfilling client food orders and daily food-related tasks.
• Providing support to the Administration team by performing a variety of reception and administrative duties.
• Monitoring the non-perishable stock levels for hamper creation.
• Connecting clients with the Client Service Navigator for referrals to food distribution programs such as the Christmas Bureau, Bulk Buy, satellite locations and Home Delivery.
• Providing support to the Fresh Food Recovery program by ensuring the recovery of food is recovered for safe consumption, safe handling, and proper labeling.
• Providing daily fresh food availability updates to the Client Services Lead and the Home Delivery program.
• Following volunteer drivers and route scheduling for the Home Delivery program. Ensuring the preparation and delivery of food hampers is completed each day.
• Assisting in the management of all incoming and outgoing inventory and stock.
• Assisting in major food drives.
• Assisting in the sorting of donations.
This position is a great fit for someone who understands the issues, barriers and impacts regarding food insecurity, and can build relationships with clients, colleagues and partners in the conducting of Food Bank operations.

Getting an Interview – you will be considered if you have:
• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent experience.
• Experience in a customer services position is preferred.
• Experience working with vulnerable populations is an asset.
• Experience coordinating and directing the work of volunteers is an asset.
The Job Requires you to have:
• Good computer competency; able to use Microsoft Office365 and databases.
• Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good understanding of safe working procedures and the ability to train volunteers on those requirements.
• Ability to be in a position where you will have periods of constant motion including walking and lifting or carrying items up to 50lbs. This position may also include standing at a workstation for extended periods of time.
• Ability to switch tasks to respond to priorities and frequent interruptions.
• Flexible availability to work any day of the week and some evenings and weekends may be required.
• Ability to deal with clients in difficult or stressful situations.
• A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is a condition of employment.
