About the CFC
The Concordia Food Coalition (CFC) is a non-profit organization and a fee-levy group
operating at Concordia University. The CFC brings together students, faculty, staff and
community members to co-create campus-community food sovereignty. We collaborate
to educate, innovate and incubate vibrant, sustainable, accessible and democratic local
food systems. We aim to democratize the campus food system by moving away from
corporate models while organizing towards student-led change.

About the Work Culture
We are looking to fill more than just a position, we are looking for the right person that

learning (and unlearning) environment. This role will form a crucial part of the
leadership team of the CFC.

propensity and inclination toward growth in key areas of the job duties. This posting has
an estimated hourly wage and weekly time commitment, but depending on the hiree’s
current skills and expertise, we may collaboratively determine how best to invest the
labour budget between an hourly wage / hours and paid training or other development
opportunities.

Wage range: $24 - 26 per hour
Work schedule: Up to 25 hours per week
Contract duration: March 1st 2025 - September 30th 2025, possibility to renew

Food Network Coordinator

Scope of this Position
The Food Network Coordinator is responsible for supporting community-based food
initiatives and creating connections among food justice and access groups within the
campus and broader community. This role ensures the growth and sustainability of food
networks, facilitates food group engagement, and oversees key food-related programs,
including the Farmers Market and the Food Group Development Program.

Role Specific Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
Lead the food group engagement strategy, aligning the activities of food groups
with CFC’s mission and vision.
Ensure the food network's strategic direction is focused on fostering collaboration,
empowering food groups, and strengthening the coalition of food justice and access
initiatives.
Support the growth and sustainability of food-related initiatives, working closely
with community partners and food group leaders to ensure their development.
Program Management:
Food Group Engagement: Lead food group events and community of practice
assemblies, offering training, resources, and support to new or developing food
initiatives.
Food Group Development Program: Oversee program delivery, providing mentorship
and resources to food groups at various stages of their development.
Farmers Market Oversight: While market interns manage day-to-day operations, the
Food Network Coordinator will ensure overall program delivery, logistics, and
strategic alignment of market activities with CFC's mission. Moving and lifting items
and equipment up to 40lbs
Community Engagement & Advocacy:
Building Solidarity: Foster collaboration and solidarity among food-related
community organizations and food justice groups within the CFC food network.
This requires active initiative to regularly go meet with food group representatives
in person on site.
Volunteer Coordination: Manage market volunteers within the food system network,
ensuring they are properly onboarded, trained, and engaged in CFC programs.
Mentorship/Stewardship:
Farmers Market: Provide mentorship and support to the Farmers Market Interns,
ensuring their tasks align with the overall vision for the market.
Food Group Support: Guide and oversee interns providing support to food groups,
helping ensure they receive adequate resources and support in line with their
specific needs.


Program Evaluation & Reporting:
Feedback Gathering: Collect feedback from food groups and market stakeholders to
continually improve program delivery and support services.
Reporting: Provide monthly updates to the General Coordinator and HR Committee
on the status of food groups, the Farmers Market, and other related programs.

General Responsibilities
Establishing and following through on work plans in collaboration with the team &
Board
Maintaining timely & compassionate communications and collaborative work
relationships with teammates and Board
Attending and participating in team and planning meetings (including organizational
development, strategic or program planning)
Logging work and time
Preparing reports for monthly Board Meetings and Annual General Meetings
Preparing for and participating in self and peer evaluations (twice annually)
Maintaining organization and conformity in collaborative, virtual and physical file
sharing
Understanding your role and responsibilities as stipulated in this job description
Familiarizing yourself with and adhering to the CFC Constitution, policies, history,
and general operations

Qualifications
Values Alignment: Dedication towards building sustainable, healthy, affordable, and
non-corporate food systems.
Understanding of the CFC’s vision, mission, values
Experience in Community-Based Food Work: Background in food justice, food
systems, or community organizing.
Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage and support teams, including
interns/agents, and provide strategic direction for food-related initiatives.
Ability to work in a team, keeping others updated on own work and able to
incorporate others’ feedback
Strategic Thinker: Ability to set a clear strategic direction and make high-level
decisions.
Ability to support and organize with multiple stakeholders
Proven track record for successful project coordination and systems thinking.
Strong Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in
English, with experience in public speaking and community outreach.
Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain collaborative
relationships (to work with network partners, stakeholders, and internal team).
Intermediate French verbal and written communication skills required
Operational Management: Experience in overseeing daily operations, program
delivery and event coordination. Experience in recruiting, training, and managing
volunteers or interns.
Strong multi-tasking and time-management abilities
Familiarity with Concordia University’s institutional processes and the campus milieu
Familiarity with web applications like Google Drive, Canva

Wage Subsidy Qualifications:
The position is designed to provide 25 hours/week, with the understanding that the
total compensation package may vary based on available funding. We encourage
applicants who are flexible and able to adapt to the realities of nonprofit work,
including the potential for limited hours or fluctuations in funding.
Due to funder requirements, we will prioritize candidates the fit the following wage
subsidy criteria:
Are between the ages of 15-30;
Are Canadian Citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons as defined by the
Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
Post-secondary school graduate
Are not currently in school (cannot be on summer or winter break);
Self identifies as Indigenous, a youth living with a disability, a woman, a racialized
youth or a youth who are living in a northern or remote community;
Are legally entitled to work in Canada; and,
Are legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial
legislation and regulations.
