Job Title: Camp Nurse/First Aid Attendant

Based at: Brightwood Ranch

Reports to: Program Manager

Hours of work: 4-month paid position - May-August

Salary: $15/hour + room & board*

Start Date: May 5th, 2025

Status: Contract Position ending August 22nd, 2025

Our Facility: We are located on 220 acres of rolling hills one hour west of Edmonton. We offer 6-day overnight camps for children and youth ages 6-17. Activities include archery, riflery, zipline, climbing wall, petting zoo, horsemanship, bike trails/pump track, laser tag, and wide games. All cabins have shower and bathroom facilities.

Job Summary: As a camp nurse/first aid attendant, you'll be essential to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of campers and staff throughout their camp experience. Your responsibilities will include providing medical care, supervision, and support for any health-related needs, from treating minor injuries to managing medications. You'll also offer health education to encourage good hygiene and prevent common camp illnesses. In addition to daily health checks, you'll manage the camp's first aid station, keeping it stocked and organized. This role allows you to build meaningful connections as a trusted caregiver and mentor, helping create a safe and enjoyable environment for all at camp.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • Maintain accurate records of camper medications and all treatment given/medications administered.
  • Administer medication for campers and staff.
  • Monitor hygiene aspects of camp.
  • Monitor cleanliness and health of campers and staff.
  • Communicate with parents.
  • Care for sick or injured campers and staff.
  • Participate in camp activities, including chapel, when time allows.
  • Minimum of a completed second year of nursing training - an asset.
  • Love for underprivileged kids.
  • Enjoyment of the outdoors.

  • Being a Christian organization, we require our employees to be in agreement and sign the Hope Mission statement of Faith (https://hopemission.com/our-values/).
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis.
  • Able to provide Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • A letter of reference from a ministry or church is an asset.
  • Adherence to Hope Mission's policies and procedures.

*Every returning staff member receives a $200/month raise. All staff that complete the full 7 weeks of camp and 2 weeks of training receive a $1000 bonus at the end of the summer.
