Position Overview

Are you a detail-oriented professional with a passion for precision and compliance? We’re looking for a skilled Payroll Coordinator to join our team. In this crucial role, you’ll manage the accurate processing of both hourly and salary payrolls, generate comprehensive payroll reports, and ensure strict adherence to provincial legislation, company policies, and collective agreements. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are committed to delivering flawless payroll solutions, we invite you to apply and become an integral part of our dynamic team.

Reporting to the Payroll and Benefits Manager, our selected candidate will manage full-cycle payroll functions including employee onboarding, changes, and terminations, and process bi-weekly payroll for various employee types. You will maintain and secure personnel files, handle deductions, and garnishments. Duties also include reconciling timesheet systems, responding to payroll and benefits inquiries, and collaborating with the payroll team on complex issues. You will ensure compliance with regulations, conduct account reconciliations, and generate statutory filings like T4s and ROEs. Additionally, you will perform regular audits, generate ad-hoc reports, and assist with audit and compliance activities.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position will hold a Diploma or Certificate in Payroll Administration, with a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification or progress towards it. They should have over two years of Canadian payroll experience, with proficiency in ADP Workforce Now, and experience in adhering to union agreements and preparing payroll reconciliations and year-end audits.

Required skills include a solid understanding of employee taxation, payroll functions, and provincial legislation, along with strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail, the ability to manage competing priorities, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel are essential, with multi-lingual abilities and current knowledge of the Employment Standards Act (BC) being beneficial.

This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
