MAJOR DUTIES
The Employment Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the program to support job seekers in securing meaningful and sustainable employment. This role involves monitoring participant intake and referrals, developing job readiness training, coordinating and developing employer partnerships, and ensuring participants receive the resources and support necessary to succeed.
The Incumbent for this position will be responsible for the following:
1. Oversees and coordinates day-to-day program operations as the main point of contact for team members, clients, employers and community stakeholders.
2. Enters and maintains thorough written documentation in online data reporting systems, ensuring that caseload files are up-to-date and ready for file audits.
3. Collects, organizes, and analyzes client information/data through completed needs assessments and other mechanisms to appraise clients’ interests, aptitudes, and abilities to create individualized action plans that lead to successful outcomes.
4. Outreach to engage potential clients and employers/businesses to secure partnerships for work opportunities. Developing and maintaining a broad base of diverse partnerships, including community partners and businesses.
5. Serves a caseload of clients annually, ensures client progress is actively monitored and documented with adjustments made on a weekly and monthly basis to achieve employment outcomes.
6. Provides solution-based employment counselling and ongoing support to an assigned caseload of clients in the areas of job search, job coaching, job retention, and other areas to support clients in achieving employment goals.
7. Consistently monitors and tracks caseload success rates to achieve individual targets that contribute to the team’s overall objectives and expectations from the program’s funder.
8. Provides effective job search readiness support services to clients on relevant topics, such as job search strategies, interview preparation, credential assessments, language support, and other areas to help them achieve successful outcomes, such as developing effective résumés.
9. Determines client eligibility for financial supports, administers eligible supports, and ensures proper documentation is on file to support expenditures.
10. Conducts timely follow-ups with clients throughout their job search efforts, and provides repeat, one-on-one job coaching sessions and support, as needed, to review goals, address barriers, and ensure clients are making progress toward goals, including facilitating community-based referrals when needed.
11. Assesses and facilitates wraparound and intervention resources required to help clients address and overcome barriers that may prevent them from achieving successful employment outcomes.
12. Provides comprehensive coordination of accommodation supports for clients, ensuring that their specific needs are met to enable full participation in services, programs, or employment opportunities.
Job Development, Employment, and Retention Support
13. Establishes and nurtures strategic, long-term partnerships with inclusive employers and professional networks to create diverse and sustainable employment opportunities for clients.
14. Leverages job carving and customized employment strategies to align job roles with clients’ unique skills and abilities.
15. Provides comprehensive retention support through regular check-ins with clients and employers, addressing challenges promptly and collaboratively.
16. Develops individualized retention plans for clients, including goal setting, skill development, and workplace integration strategies to support long-term success.
17. Works with employers to implement inclusive onboarding processes and workplace accommodations tailored to clients' needs.
18. Facilitates ongoing communication between clients and employers to ensure expectations are met and to pre-emptively address potential workplace conflicts.
19. Monitors job retention and career advancement metrics, using insights to continuously improve employment strategies and support services.
20. Organizes post-employment support groups or one-on-one sessions for clients to address topics such as workplace conflict resolution, time management, and career progression.
21. Utilizes advanced digital tools and platforms to streamline job matching, enhance employer engagement, and track post-employment outcomes effectively.
22. Collaborates with clients on job search activities, including identifying opportunities, cold calling employers, and networking to secure meaningful work opportunities.
23. Matches clients to suitable roles by leveraging employer relationships and advertised job openings, ensuring alignment with their qualifications and goals.
24. Provides on-the-job coaching and support to clients during their initial days in a new job to facilitate a smooth transition and build their confidence in the workplace.
25. Performs other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications/ Skills Required:
• A post-secondary degree, either in the field of Career Development or related fields such as Social Services or Psychology, and relevant work experience is highly preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years’ direct experience in disability employment services, employment counselling, job coaching, and/or job development, or other experience directly transferable to the position’s responsibilities, is required.
• Excellent time management skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and juggle multiple demands with competing timelines.
• Ability to collaborate across multiple levels of stakeholders with a customer-focused, positive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills.
• Experience in sales, marketing, mentorship, coaching and counselling, and employer relationship-building are considered assets.
• Previous experience working with an Employment Ontario funded program is considered an asset.
• Candidates who meet these qualifications will be prioritized.
Salary Range: $60,000 to $68,000 plus benefits, based on experience. A valid Ontario driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle for local travel is required. A Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS) will be required.
