Position Summary
The Nurse assesses, identifies, plans, implements and evaluates the nursing care required to assist Foxglove Enhanced Health Housing team clients in meeting their physical, social, spiritual and psychological needs. The Nurse works within the team’s interdisciplinary clinical framework to provide client centered and strengths-based care in accordance with the CRNBC/CRPNBC Standards of Practice and consistent with the mission, vision and values and established policy and protocols of RainCity Housing and the Foxglove Enhanced Health Housing team. The Nurse provides treatment services that are both inclusionary and flexible for individuals with mental illness, addictions and/or chronic medical conditions and ensures integration and continuity across the care continuum. The Nurse establishes and maintains relationships with, and consults with, service and housing providers, clients, their families and colleagues to provide appropriate treatment services based on best practices and client need. The Nurse performs duties such as intake, mental and physical health and addictions assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, consultation, and individual counseling.

Job: Registered Nurse / Registered Psychiatric Nurse, Foxglove Enhanced Health Housing, Permanent, Part-Time, 0.5 FTE

Hourly Range: $41.42-$59.52 (BCNU Level 3 RN/RPN)

Hours: 0.5 FTE Average of 37.5 hours Bi-weekly 

Schedule: Week 1: Wednesday – Friday 9:00AM – 5:00PM. Week 2: Friday – Saturday 9:00AM – 5:00PM. Must be able to work a combination of evenings and weekends as required. Some on-call work may be required. Schedules are subject to change to meet operational requirements and client needs. Includes a 30-minute unpaid meal break

A clear British Columbia Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check for working with vulnerable adults and/or children is a condition of employment with RainCity Housing. Applicants must be willing and able to receive a clearance under the Criminal Record Review Act.  

 

Program Summary
Foxglove Enhanced Health Housing: The 23-unit Enhanced Health Housing floor will have dedicated medication management, psychosocial rehabilitation, support for minor medical issues and work in partnership with Fraser Health services such as Mental Health and Substance Use and Home Health. Other hospitality services include meals and laundry. There will also be a part-time nurse on site twenty hours a week for tenants to access. This section of Foxglove will also be staffed twenty-four hours a day over three separate shifts. Folks in this space will have access to Indigenous Cultural Liaisons who will create programing connected to culture and build relationships with participants. There will be a Peer Support Specialist available seven days a week as well. The referral pathway for these twenty-three units will come from Fraser Health.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education and Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing (RN or RPN).
  • Current practicing registration with the BCCNM (BC College of Nurses and Midwives).
  • Three (3) years’ recent related experience providing treatment services to individuals with mental health and addiction concerns, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

 

Knowledge and Abilities 

  • Broad knowledge of diagnoses, treatment and support resources in the areas of mental illness and substance use.
  • Knowledge and experience with harm reduction principles.
  • Basic knowledge of legislation and government policies and procedures that relate to client, including the BC Mental Health Act.
  • Demonstrated understanding of oppression and marginalization, specifically as related to people with experience of a mental illness, addiction, or homelessness.
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds in an urban environment and willingness to provide flexible and creative care.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of outreach nursing, including light lifting (up to 15lb) and walking/stairs in community settings.
