About RaY & The Role

Our mission at RaY is to provide youth with what they need, on their terms, to better their lives.

The Building Empowerment through Activity and Mentorship (BEAM) program provides youth ages 18-29 with activity-based mentorship and intensive case management.

As a BEAM Case Manager, you will work within a trauma-informed and culturally safe environment to help youth build the life skills and knowledge necessary to succeed. Through engaging activities and one-on-one support, you will empower youth to identify their goals, develop strategies to achieve them, and foster positive mental, emotional, and physical health outcomes.

What You'll Do

  • Build Relationships & Mentor: You will build trusting, professional relationships with homeless and marginalized youth, using activity-based mentorship (sports, arts, cultural activities) as a tool for engagement and growth.
  • Provide Case Management: You will provide intensive one-on-one support, including intakes, assessments, and goal planning. You will conduct regular home visits to assess needs and support housing stability.
  • Advocate & Navigate Systems: You will act as a strong advocate for youth within various systems (e.g., EIA, CFS, Health Care, Justice) and connect them to necessary and culturally-relevant resources and services.
  • Collaborate & Document: You will work cooperatively with RaY’s integrated service team and maintain high-quality, up-to-date documentation on all participant interactions and service statistics.
  • Plan & Coordinate Programming: You will assist in organizing and scheduling engaging activities and workshops that align with BEAM program goals.
  • Recruit & Engage Youth: You will support outreach efforts to connect with potential participants and encourage their involvement in the BEAM program.

What You Bring

  • A diploma or degree in a related field (e.g., Child and Youth Care, Social Work), or an equivalent combination of education, life, and work experience.
  • Experience in case management and mentorship, particularly with vulnerable youth or other marginalized populations.
  • A strong working knowledge of harm reduction principles, trauma-informed care, and the history of colonization and its impact on Indigenous youth.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and written skills, with a talent for creative problem-solving and advocacy.
  • The ability to balance relational work with professional boundaries, and to function both independently and as part of a collaborative frontline team in a fast-paced environment.
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license and successful review of a Criminal Record Check and Child/Adult Abuse Registry Check.

Our Commitment to Diversity:

At Resource Assistance for Youth (RaY), we are committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and compassionate team that reflects the communities we serve. We recognize that systemic barriers impact access to opportunity, and we hire with the goal of addressing those inequities. RaY fosters a safe and welcoming environment where staff feel valued and empowered to support youth. We encourage all applicants to self-identify as appropriate to help inform our decision-making and strengthen our collective impact.

Land Acknowledgement:
