Our mission is to assist people in maintaining dignity, enhancing autonomy, and strengthening relationships through supportive programs and excellent human services. We believe the family is the most valuable resource to its members and we invest in that belief every day.

Job Summary

The Parent-Child Assistance Program (PCAP) is a voluntary, three-year program that supports individuals who are pregnant, currently parenting, or have previously parented, and who are using substances, have a child with FASD, or have an FASD diagnosis themselves. As a Mentor, you will build trusting relationships with participants, collaborate with them to set and achieve goals, and help connect families to community supports that promote healthy, stable, and nurturing lives.

What You’ll Do:

•         Provide intensive, in-home support to clients.

•         Develop and implement client-led goals to meet client needs and to build capacity and resilience.

•         Navigate, advocate and coordinate access to community resources related to addiction recovery, mental health, parenting, housing, and others as needed.

•         Collaborate with community agencies to develop care plans.

•         Maintain accurate, timely documentation using program-specific databases.

•         Help families achieve healthier outcomes for themselves and their children.

We’re Looking For:

•         Post-secondary education in social services, psychology, or a related human services field.

•         Experience working with families affected by substance use, addictions, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), and mental health challenges.

•         Demonstrated ability to build rapport with families experiencing complex challenges in a non-judgmental, compassionate and culturally sensitive manner.

•         Solid understanding of trauma-informed practices, community resources, and child development

•         Effective and timely verbal and written communication skills, including data reporting and regular case management duties

•         Must have a valid Alberta Driver’s License, access to a reliable vehicle, and the ability to travel.

•         A current Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector Search) and Child Intervention Record Check are required.

Why Join Us?

At FSCA, you will have the opportunity to work alongside a passionate, mission- driven team in a role that truly makes a difference. We are committed to supporting our staff with training, flexibility, and a healthy work-life balance.
