Frontlines is seeking a creative and passionate Chef. This role plays a vital part in advancing Frontlines’ mission by supporting food security initiatives, culinary education, and youth empowerment. This role contributes to the preparation and distribution of nutritious meals and community engagement. In addition, they support local agencies, families in Weston and surrounding communities, as well as catering requests.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare nutritious, culturally diverse meals that meet the dietary needs of program participants and community members.

  • Assist in planning menus and culinary activities that align with program goals.

  • Ensure all meals adhere to food safety, hygiene, and dietary regulations.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen environment at all times.

  • Support the delivery of cooking classes and workshops for FEET program participants, youth, corporate volunteers, and community members.

  • Contribute to special community events and catering initiatives that highlight Frontlines’ mission.

  • Track food inventory, place orders, and manage supplies efficiently.

  • Implement waste reduction strategies and promote sustainable food practices.

  • Support with the receipt, unloading, and organization of food deliveries.

  • Work closely with the Culinary Manager, program staff, volunteers, and external partners.

  • Supervise and mentor volunteers, placement students, and junior kitchen staff by fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Secondary school diploma, culinary training, certification, or relevant experience in a nonprofit community kitchen or restaurant setting

  • At least 1-2 years in food service, catering, or a professional kitchen

  • Food Handler's Certificate

  • Knowledge of basic kitchen operations and techniques

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and ability to engage with diverse community groups

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

  • Commitment to community service and empowerment.

  • Creativity in menu planning and food presentation.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Problem-solving and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

  • Great time management Skill
