Do you have a passion for mental health and youth leadership? The Mental Health Commission of Canada is looking for part-time youth mentors across Alberta to join its HEADSTRONG team!
The Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) is a non-profit organization created to focus national attention on mental health issues and to work to improve the health and social outcomes of people living with mental illness. The Commission is seen as a leader nationally and internationally in several areas.
A program of the Commission, HEADSTRONG is the only evidence-based youth leadership program focused on mental health and stigma reduction in Canada. Created by the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC), HEADSTRONG is a national initiative that inspires youth ages 12-18 to Be Brave, Reach Out and Speak Up about mental health. As you a youth mentor, you will help empower junior high and high school student leaders to challenge attitudes and break the cycle of mental illness stigma.

Youth mentors work with the Provincial HEADSTRONG Coordinator to support student activities in HEADSTRONG Partner schools by supporting student leaders to organize awareness activities and campaigns.
Ideal candidates are post-secondary students with a demonstrated interest and track record in student leadership as well as mental health. They should possess strong facilitation skills and would help develop the leadership capacity of HEADSTRONG students. Successful candidates are enthusiastic, have strong interpersonal skills and are passionate about helping others. They are committed to helping students make difference in their community and become mental health champions
