YMCA Chetwynd Child Care Coordinator (maternity position)

Currently, the YMCA of Northern BC operates at 13 locations in five communities - child care, preschool and out of school care. We serve over 600 families with 95 exceptional staff and we are growing!

Major Responsibilities and Abilities:

  • To provide successful leadership and management of the YMCA Chetwynd Care and Learning Centre while supporting expansion to meet community need.  The coordinator is committed to achieving excellence in child care and making a significant contribution towards the advancement of quality child care in the community.
  • To spend within an approved budget, hire, supervise and terminate all staff and volunteers within the Coordinator’s responsibility areas in consultation with the Senior Leadership and the CEO.
  • Ensure that all systems meet Association standards of confidentiality, safety, quality, concern for the environment and health and are in compliance with relevant government regulations at all times.


  • Current ECE Certificate (or in process of), ECE Diploma an asset
  • Two years supervisory experience
  • Front line experience in child care or other like programs
  • Current Emergency Child Care First Aid Certification
  • Three professional references
  • Immunization record and TB test
  • Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Search. The YMCA will provide applicable instructions
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Child Care Licensing Act and Regulations
  • Physical and mental ability to work under sometimes challenging circumstances
