The YMCA of Southwest Nova Scotia is looking for a driven leader with a strong sense of community and quality commitment to join our team as Centre Manager for our Fundy YMCA Health, Fitness, and Aquatics facility.  This critical position will continue to position our YMCA as a strong, vibrant community partner.

The Opportunity

As Centre Manager, reporting directly to the CEO, you will provide leadership and operational oversight of the Fundy YMCA Health, Fitness and Aquatics facility.   Through leadership and collaboration with Centre staff and volunteers you will be responsible for driving our membership growth/retention strategy forwards with a focus on ensuring a well-rounded, meaningful, inclusive member experience for youth, individuals, and families. 


Specifically you will:

  • Oversee operations and day-to-day management of the facility and program areas
  • Ensure consistent delivery of quality, inclusive individual, youth, and family programming including Health, Fitness, Aquatics, and Youth programming
  • Be responsible as the face and voice of the Fundy YMCA in establishing positive, collaborative community partnerships
  • Foster a culture of philanthropy amongst members, staff, and volunteers through incorporating the YMCA core values through leadership of the YMCA Strong Kids Annual Giving Campaign

You Bring

  • Post-secondary degree in Recreation, Management, or related field or relevant work experience
  • 3-5 years senior management experience; experience in a YMCA or non-profit membership centre an asset
  • Proven track record in developing and delivering responsive, quality community programs
  • Demonstrated ability to foster high performance teams
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills; ability to establish rapport
  • Strong attention to detail and solution focused
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check, Child Abuse Registry Check. Employees will be required to attend YMCA Child Protection Training.
