Start Date: January 2, 2020

Rate of Pay: $27.00 – 28.50/hour 

Hours: Part-time (14-21 hours/week) until end of March 2020

Reports To: Innovation and Experimentation Coach

Location: NYCH and other community sites

Position Summary


The Innovation and Design Facilitator is a new role at NYCH. As a member of the Innovation & Experimentation team, the Innovation and Design Facilitator will work together with designers, strategists, facilitators, coaches and researchers to build capacity inside and outside NYCH to enhance programs, services and relationships with the community.

This position supports both internal (staff) and external (community) efforts to be innovative and to experiment with new ways of delivering programs and services for the NYCH community. Internally, this position is responsible for identifying key opportunities within NYCH to support innovation, to share learning across the organization and to promote experimentation. Externally, this position will be responsible for supporting the facilitation of workshops, the design of learning materials and documenting learning.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with Innovation & Experimentation Team
  • Work with Innovation & Experimentation team to identify opportunities for capacity building and training for NYCH staff
  • Provide key support to Innovation and Experimentation Coach
  • Identify, test and implement new learning strategies, labs, tools and resources for building capacity in innovation & experimentation
  • Take lead in designing workshops and facilitating workshops
  • Play a key role in coordinating community innovation projects
  • Gather feedback from NYCH staff on effectiveness of training and learning opportunities
  • Support Innovation & Experimentation team administration, timelines, expenses, etc 
  • Reflect and analyze supports and barriers to innovation & experimentation at NYCH
  • Participate in writing reports

Required Qualifications:


  • Education, training or working experience with innovation, experimentation, user-led design and social services.

Experience and Skills

  • Demonstrated 3+ years’ experience facilitating and designing training or workshops in user-led innovation with multi-stakeholder groups
  • Demonstrated 3+ years’ experience coaching individuals and teams on innovation processes
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver feedback and coach individuals and teams through learning
  • Take a leadership role on the Innovation & Experimentation team to support the growth of innovation at NYCH
  • Ability to collaborate and work independently to support a collective goal
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English
  • Experience working with diverse communities, and strong understanding of issues facing people with low-income, people of colour, and newcomers to Canada
  • Strong writing skills including conducting program evaluations and preparing clear, concise reports
  • Excellent teamwork skills and ability to work well with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Ability to speak a language other than English is an asset
  • Experience working with online collaboration tools, for example Google Docs, Slack, etc

Other Requirements:

Work schedule will be flexible and determined with the Innovation & Experimentation team. This position may require some evening/weekend work, and travel within the GTA. Responsible for carrying/caring for a laptop and cell phone. A police reference check (including vulnerable sector screening) is required.
