About the Opportunity

The YMCA of Northern BC currently has an excellent opportunity for a Manager of Child Care Operations to join our team on a full-time basis in Fort St. John or the greater Peace region. 

In this exciting role, you'll be part of our leadership team as you work to provide successful leadership and management to all YMCA licensed child care programs in the Peace Region. This will include the opening of the new YMCA Anne Roberts Young Care and Learning Centre (license pending).

While no two days in this exciting role will be the same, your more typical responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out human resource management including, coaching and performance management. 
  • Developing divisional operational plan goals on an annual basis that are in line with achieving the overall strategic plan of the organization. 
  • Developing and implementing the business plan for the Peace region centres including budgets, quality assurance, staff, asset management, and family engagement. 
  • Ensuring the quality delivery of the YMCA's 'Playing to Learn' and 'A Place to Connect' programs in a manner that always aligns with our mission, vision, and strategic goals. 
  • Ensuring high service standards and satisfaction ratings throughout all centres by achieving all quality targets established through association goals and national standards. 
  • Ensuring compliance with all municipal, provincial, regional, and national YMCA initiatives as well as ensuring that all centres are operating in compliance with the Child Care Licensing regulations at all times. 
  • Monitoring staff schedules including vacation requests in order to ensure seamless operations. 
  • Overseeing recruitment and the selection of staff. 
  • Building strong relationships with the greater community, colleagues, direct reports, and volunteers as well as mentoring and coaching other staff and volunteers. 

In order to qualify for this role, you will need a post-secondary diploma in Child Development or a related field along with a minimum of 3 years of management experience. A different combination of education and experience may also be considered. You will also need an immunization record including the TB test, current child care first aid & CPR-C certification, and a valid driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
