Carey Hall is located within the bustling academic setting of UBC’s picturesque Vancouver campus. We are a small, innovative Christian college entering an exciting time of growth with new theological graduate degree and non-degree programs that are reaching international multi-ethnic Christian communities around the world. We also provide student residences and short- and long-term university accommodations and are poised for a major building expansion.

We are looking for a Learning Resources Coordinator to join our team of academic administrators in the Teaching & Learning Division for graduate theological programs. Under the supervision of the Online Learning Coordinator, the Learning Resources Coordinator helps to develop and expand Carey’s online library and learning resources and functions as a “research librarian” to point students to relevant resources available for their study.


Key Responsibilities


  • Serve as a primary support for online learning resource for both students and faculty
  • Acquisition: Growing eBook collection according to curricula needs
  • Manage budget for acquisition and system subscription
  • Exploring, assessing, and acquiring reliable online resources available on the internet that might best serve our students; develop free resource data bank
  • Recommend resources to faculty for use in their courses which include preparing recommended bibliography for specific topics available through Carey’s e-library system and UBC library database.
  • Serves as a liaison with the UBC libraries and libraries of neighborhood theological colleges
  • Work with Carey webmaster to curate faculty and student projects (such as Capstone projects, Doctoral Theses, etc.) and explore how best to store these resources, as well as make them accessible to students, alumni, and churches.
  • Streamlining student access and navigation of online databases
  • Reporting on usage of various database/ebook titles for the Carey Senate
  • Coordinate and manage church resource production
  • Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned



  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal), knowledge of Chinese an asset
  • Advanced computer/technical proficiency, with experience in working with data collection and management
  • Key attributes: organized, problem solver and a team player
  • Formal Theological training or widely read in biblical studies and Christian theology
  • Background in database management, or a relevant field: proven skills to set up, navigate, and streamline our resources with an online environment.
  • Experience with SSO (Single sign-on) or other forms of user-access
  • Customer service experience: to deal with different types of users with varying technological backgrounds attempting to access the collection
  • Librarian training an asset



The salary range is $37k-$42k. Full-time at 37.5 hours per week, initial one-year contract; part-time salary will be prorated accordingly. Some benefits for part-time and a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employee after three months of employment include:
