Position Type: 1-year full-time contract (possibility of renewal)

Experience: 3+ years

Reporting to: Program manager

Location: Greater Toronto Area (Toronto, Scarborough, North York, Etobicoke and Weston)

Start date: Immediately



Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)

  • Provides employment assessment services at 5 Employment Ontario locations and other satellite offices as required
  • Assesses clients’ needs and assists them in developing a Service Plan
  • Identifies clients’ employment goals and determines whether further assistance or other referrals are required
  • Keeps up to date on referral/ support services by liaising with partners such as Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program, Indigenous Services Canada, Ministry of Indigenous Affairs and other social services agencies
  • As necessary, makes appropriate referrals to Employment Ontario services and other community service programs
  • Assists clients in the exploration of occupational and training requirements, professional accreditation and language support
  • Assists clients with various components of the training application process
  • Makes resources available to clients in print and online on topics such as workplace health & safety and human rights
  • Identifies barriers to employment faced by clients and provides referrals to appropriate community services
  • Collects data on service needs, service delivery and service satisfaction


Other Duties as Needed

  • Plans and executes an effective outreach plan targeting appropriate clientele
  • Recruits clients and ensures that the required number access services
  • Initiates and maintains organized documentation (including a database) of contacted community organizations
  • Develops and implements outreach strategies, with manager’s approval, and monitors outreach activities
  • Participates in community events, job fairs and related activities to inform job seekers about The Career Foundation and recruit them for the program
  • Visits and builds relationships with various community partners and organizations to facilitate client referrals  
  • Maintains flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed


Qualifications/ Skills Required

  • University degree required
  • Experience in assessment required
  • Experience in job search techniques and coaching, outreach, group facilitation and life skills coaching
  • Excellent knowledge of English grammar and spelling for the development of job search and business-related documents
  • Strong internal and external customer service focus, positive attitude, initiative and professionalism
  • Experience with OW, ODSP, youth, women's services, internationally educated professionals, newcomers, indigenous populations, ESL job seekers, disability is an asset
  • Second language is an asset, preferably French
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues by maintaining a solution-focused environment to enhance information sharing and maintain collaborative work relationships
  • Access to a vehicle is required as travel between different locations in the Greater Toronto Area is expected
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office, internet and email
