Full-time / Temporary 1 year contract with possibility of renewal / Starting August 2019 / Dufferin & Lawrence

 

We’re looking for someone who will:

  • Interview and assess participants with developmental disabilities and mental health issues for suitability for the program
  • Develop and facilitate group workshops that promote communication and work-related skill-building, community inclusion and civic participation
  • Provide employment counseling to a caseload of 15-20 participants in conjunction with the JVS Workforce Specialist
  • Provide assessment, case management and one-to-one support to 15-20 participants
  • Deliver individualized counseling for employment-related challenges and assist with job coaching in the community
  • Develop strategies, program alternatives, service plans and goals in collaboration with participants including bi-annual ISP
  • Liaise and case manage with community mental health professionals, referral workers and participants to make recommendations for skill development and other interventions
  • Work within the mandate of the Quality Assurance Measures (QAM), Developmental Services Ontario, and JVS Toronto program guidelines
  • Maintain documentation, statistical reports and client files as required by the Ministry of Community and Social Services and JVS Toronto

 

Flexible hours / evenings may be required for this position.

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling or Social Services with placement experience, or a related degree with 3-5 years of counselling experience. International degrees must be evaluated for Canadian equivalency.
  • 2-3 years of experience supporting individuals who have dual diagnosis
  • Extensive knowledge of mental health and developmental disability issues and their impact on social inclusion and community involvement
  • Demonstrated career counselling skills, decision making, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to facilitate workshops for a range of learning styles
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to develop respectful and trusting relationships with participants
  • Strong collaboration skills, positive team player
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literate; the ability to learn systems used by the agency (ie. SalesForce)
  • A clear Police Vulnerable Sector check is required for this position

 

Our ideal candidate will also have:

  • Employment Ontario knowledge and exposure
  • Bilingual fluency in French
