Family Services of Peel (FSP) is a progressive, multi-service Agency offering a dynamic work environment & culture. Applications are currently being accepted for a Manager of Employment Services.  Reporting to the Director of Client Services, the Manager of Employment Services develops & manages the Agency’s employment service model, funded by Employment Ontario, which assists unemployed individuals in their job search efforts. The Manager implements the five key components of the service delivery model including client service planning & coordination, resource & information, job search, job matching & placement, & job retention. A strong customer service approach is essential in the implementation of the employment service model. The Employment Services Manager plays a hands-on role including direct service provision.

Responsibilities:

  • Implements & manage the Employment Ontario Service model
  • Manages program staff
  • Liaises with external employment service providers & partner organizations
  • Manages client service data collection & reporting systems
  • As part of the Management Team, participates in decision-making including policies & procedures development
  • Ensures staff compliance with Agency policies & procedures
  • Conducts outreach to employers to identify opportunities & prompt job matching & placement support
  • Where necessary, provides employers with sensitivity/diversity training, workplace safety training & information on accommodation needs
  • Facilitates work opportunities & negotiation of employment relationships on behalf of clients including placement agreements & contracts with individuals & employers that include training objectives & commitments & financial incentives
  • Develops a training plan with the employer & the participant & negotiates the incentive as appropriate
  • Administers contract with employers, including the timely processing & payment of financial incentives
  • Provides career exploration, identification & clarification of interests, abilities, skills, education & experience in relation to short & long term career & employment goals in a group or individual setting
  • Provides counselling & coaching in life skills that supports successful employment participation
  • Supports mentoring & coaching during the job search process
  • Provides financial support to remove barriers to participation

Qualifications:  

  • Completion of post-secondary education
  • Excellent understanding of job search strategies, career counselling & experience facilitating full-time job search sessions
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups – including adults, youth, newcomers to Canada or other groups with specialized needs.
  • Familiarity with CaMS
  • Superior oral & written communications skills
  • Goal-oriented, highly organized, flexible & adaptable with superior time management skills
  • Minimum 2 years of management-level responsibility for a broad range of functions in a unionized environment
  • Additional language(s) is an asset
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license & regular access to a vehicle are required
