School is the center of the universe for many children. It’s where they learn, play, eat, make friends, discover role models, develop life-long social skills, and find help if a crisis arises. These essential services cease to exist for vulnerable children when schools close for winter, spring and summer breaks. KidSafe serves more than 450 of Vancouver's most at-risk youth by providing a safe space, developmental care and nutrition to children ages 5-13 when school is not in session.

The Child Support Worker aims to work as an integration support for children in our programs who may need extra attention at times. Using a variety of different methods a Child Support Worker works in smaller groups or one on one when needed to make sure that every child has the “tools” to participate in KidSafe programming and be successful. The Child Support worker should be able to recognize and identify situations where they are needed and is not assigned to a particular child throughout programming. This role is also responsible for reporting to parents on any events that may have happened during the day. In order to be successful in this role the candidate should have experience with having counselling conversations with children, with redirecting behaviours and with children with emotional or social challenges.
