March of Dimes Canada promotes independence for adults with physical disabilities throughout Ontario. One of the many ways we achieve this is through our Summer Holiday Program. Since 1972, the Provincial Recreation Department has operated a residential holiday program for adults with physical disabilities from a site on Lake Couchiching, Orillia, Ontario.
We are seeking a number of enthusiastic and responsible individuals for the following position to assist approximately 65 adults with physical disabilities to each enjoy a 6-day stay at the Summer Holiday Program in Orillia. This includes provision of attendant care services and programming. Duties include assisting holidayers with recreational programming and self-directed activities of daily living, including dressing, toileting, bathing, transferring and feeding.
Staff work six days with a maximum of a four hour break each day of the session. A break is scheduled between each session.
Qualifications / Compétences requises:
- University or college student.
- Studies in recreation, health or social service related fields an asset.
- Must be able to live onsite for 6 consecutive days for the entirety of the contract length
- Demonstrated maturity, dependability, and responsibility
- Current First Aid/CPR certificates
- Recreation or camping experience, and/or previous experience working with adults with physical disabilities an asset
Salary Range: TBD (subject to experience, for duration of contract)
