Position:                    Membership Services Ambassador

Placement:                Immediately

Terms:                       Part time, daytime availability during the week, some evenings and weekends

Wage:                        $13.85


The YMCA of Northern BC serves 20,000 people of all abilities, backgrounds and stages of life in Prince George and Northern British Columbia. We are a growing, multi-service association that offers health, fitness and recreation, licensed childcare, rehabilitation services, community support services and summer camps.


Primary Function

As a member of the YMCA Membership Services Team and reporting to the Membership Sales Supervisor, the Membership Services Ambassador ensures that the Membership Services desk is friendly and welcoming, and operates in a safe, efficient and effective manner. Focused on delivering a “5-Star Experience” to all YMCA Members and participants the Membership Services Ambassador is responsible for a wide variety of duties including membership sales and program registration; telephone inquiries; telephone sales and building tours. The YMCA is open 7x days per week. This position will include a variety of opening shifts (4:45 am) dayshifts, and mid-day shifts/closing shifts (10:15 pm) with the expectation of any of the listed shifts.


Major Responsibilities

  • Promote and actively sell memberships to potential members
  • Provide accurate and up to date program information and registration
  • Completing telephone sales calls to potential members
  • Accurately and swiftly handle sales transactions
  • Be efficient, highly organized and pay attention to detail
  • Provide tours and assist with member inquiries
  • Strives to stay up to date with information regarding current activities, priorities, and events occurring in the facility
  • Maintains facility cleanliness by cleaning and assisting with towel services when required
  • Participates in staff meetings as required
  • Performs other assigned or related duties to Membership Services

Qualifications and Assets

  1. Completion of Grade 12
  2. Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and clear Vulnerable Sector Search
  3. Strong Organization Skills
  4. Experience in Windows based environment including Microsoft Office
  5. Experience in Sales and Services
  6. Current WCB First Aid with AED
  7. Experience in sales and service
  8. Excellent Customer Service Skills
  9. Strong background and interest and/or education/certifications in fitness/recreational activities
