Remedial Teacher (1:1)
Learning Disability Society of Greater Vancouver
Vancouver & Lower Mainland, 3292 East Broadway Vancouver
closes in 2 days (Sat, 29 Feb)
full time  •  $28.00 to $32.00 per hour

The Learning Disabilities Society (LDS) is a non-profit charitable organization serving children and adolescents with diagnosed or suspected learning disabilities in Greater Vancouver. Our mission is to empower all children and youth with learning differences to recognize their unique strengths and develop the tools to achieve life-long confidence and success. We believe all children and adolescents should have access to the academic support they need to succeed, and we seek funding options to support all families. 60% of our clients receive bursary support to receive our services and wouldn’t be able to afford them otherwise.

We provide one-on-one remedial instruction individualized for each client’s learning needs in reading, writing, mathematics, homework support, and organization. Clients attend one-hour sessions twice a week on either Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays between 3pm and 8pm, or two-hour sessions on Saturdays between 9am and 5pm. Instructors work with the same clients throughout the academic year.

A successful instructor will be patient, innovative, and friendly. The instructor will make clients feel comfortable and supported enough so that the client may share their struggles and build confidence. The instructor will find new ways to help clients with their unique challenges. A case manager will provide ongoing support for the instructor.
