The work of the BC SPCA is supported by over 550 employees and 5000 compassionate volunteers across the province who help us assist nearly forty-nine thousand abused, abandoned, injured and neglected animals every year.  We are looking for an Officer, Social Enterprise to join our business development department at our Provincial Office in Vancouver. 


About the position:

Officer, Social Enterprise plays a critical role in the success of BC Pet Registry. BC Pet Registry is the only permanent pet ID database in BC, with a mission of reuniting lost pets with their families.  This role is responsible for the management of BC Pet Registry’s CRM system, ensuring customer success and satisfaction, as well as microchip acquisition and sales.  The successful candidate will have a strong Salesforce system administrator background and a passion for animal welfare.


The work will include:

  • Manage Salesforce community for BC Pet Registry to ensure the system is running smoothly as well as act as system administrator for the system
  • Engage with prospects to understand their needs and demonstrates ways the program can meet those needs
  • Actively market the benefits of the Registry to external animal organizations, municipalities, veterinarians and members of the public with a view to ensuring continued growth in pet registrations
  • Monitor trends within the pet identification industry; provide suggestions on how to ensure BC Pet Registry is correctly positioned as the leading pet Registry in Canada
  • Update materials related to the Registry for both internal and external users; develop additional materials, as required
  • Answer queries related to the BC Pet Registry program, providing a high level of customer service
  • Continually seek ways to further enhance the end-user experience
  • Manage online store, including accept and tag customer accounts according to BC Pet Registry account standings, process microchip orders and refunds, review billing and account settings, coordinate apps within store 
  • Administer, maintain and grow the BC SPCA microchip program, including bulk sourcing and acquisition of microchips, distribution to BC SPCA facilities and the resale of microchips to external organizations
  • Act as the primary contact for the BC SPCA spay/neuter program coordinator or designate
  • Attend events to promote the program
  • Perform other duties, as required

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • A degree or diploma in business, computer science or equivalent plus 3-5 year’s related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable to the Employer. Related experience includes, but is not limited to:
    • Business development, ideally with an emphasis on SaaS sales;
    • Administration of CRM, ideally
    • Customer service
    • Excellent written and presentation skills
    • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work, meet priorities and to work within demanding work schedules with minimal supervision
  • Valid BC Class 5 Drivers License with a clear driving record and ability to travel within the province periodically
  • Computer skills – Salesforce, Windows, MS Office incl. PowerPoint and Excel
  • Philosophic harmony with the mission, vision, and strategic direction of the BC SPCA
