Wood’s Homes is a multi-service, non-profit children’s mental health centre based in Calgary. Our over 550 staff and volunteers help provide 40 programs and services for 28,000 children and their families each year in Calgary, Lethbridge, Strathmore and Fort McMurray.

We are currently seeking two Associate Program Directors.

 

As an Associate Director you would be responsible for overseeing smaller, or new collective programs while learning the larger and more complex aspects of a Director position as a growth opportunity.  The primary focus of this role is to ensure that quality therapeutic service is provided to all clients including Family Centered Care, Developmentally Appropriate Practice, Trauma Informed Approach and Culturally Competent Practice as well as having a focus on staff safety.  You would support a culture of health and safety across the organization and within your immediate programs.

The Associate Director implements and maintains quality care and oversight in designated programs. Directs, administers, teaches and supervises a staff group and ensures professionalism and follows Occupational Health and Safety standards to ensure staff safety is in the forefront.  This position reports to a Director of Programs.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:     

  • Represents the  organizational vision and mission within the management team, to front-line staff and to the members of the Wood’s Board
  • Implements and maintains quality care and oversight in designated programs. Directs, administers, teaches and supervises a staff group and ensures professionalism
  • Monitors budget resources in his/her programs and initiates budget requirements with advice and assistance from the Director of Finance and other Directors
  • Will undertake new initiative development when warranted, the managing of partnerships when required and ensure good relationships with new and existing funders
  • Creates vibrant, enthusiastic team services that are laterally supportive to other program areas
  • Is a strong member of an inclusive, professional, vibrant and successful senior management circle – able to assist others when necessary and work quickly when required, to fulfill objectives
  • Promotes the profile of Wood’s Homes at all times as an able and credible, committed, accessible and willing community participant
  • Involved in the formulation and review of all policies, procedures and practices related directly to his/her scope of duties and to the agency overall
  • Responsible for program related research, publications and policy development
  • Executes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Chief Executive Officer or Senior Management

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters level education or higher in social work, psychology, child and youth care, nursing or a related field.
  • Considerable clinical, administrative and program development experience
  • Well developed supervisory skills
  • Able to manage conflict proactively
  • Ability to work collaboratively and inclusively
  • Proficient critical thinking skills and writing skills
  • Capable clinician and/or researcher – a critical thinker
  • Welcomes responsibility
  • Open to learning new skills; able to identify areas of improvement
  • Enjoys challenge
  • An ability to manage dual supervision/consultation
  • Undertakes and engages in regular staff supervision/consultation, knows when the latter is required
