ABOUT EMPLOYER
MonstrARTity is currently seeking applicants for the role of Community Outreach Assistant with availability from May 11, 2020.
This positions will support three programs:
-#BollywoodMonster Mashup (BMM), the LARGEST South Asian festival in Canada;
-#MonsterArts for Youth (MAY), which provides workshops in South Asian dance, music, visual arts, poetry and film to schools and senior groups
-#MonsterArtist Development (MAD), where artists are mentored on entrepreneurship and receive a professionally shot performance video
MonstrARTity is an award-winning, not-for-profit arts organization that consistently inspires tens of thousands with its original, innovative and world-class programming. This position is comprised of a combination of remote work, team conference calls and weekly meetings in Mississauga.

 

DUTIES

The Community Outreach Assistant is responsible for supporting the Programming Lead. Specific tasks include:

  • Designing a volunteer recruitment and vetting strategy
  • Implementing volunteer orientations, on-site management, and recognition
  • Coordinating with established volunteer organizations to secure volunteers for the event
  • Outreach to relevant community organizations for co-curation and long-term relationships
  • Advancing food and market vendor requirements and assisting with vendor research
  • Supporting event load-in, load-out, setup and teardown of interactive activities and food & market vendors
  • Coordinating in-kind partners for organization’s festivals and arts programs
  • Supporting the Programming Lead and other team members in activities necessary for the organization and the success of its events

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience coordinating and working with volunteers
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management skills, team player, self-starter
  • Demonstrable above average written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills
  • Must reside in the GTA and have access to own laptop or computer
  • Familiarity with Google Sheets, Dropbox and Google Drive an asset

 

ELIGIBILITY
Our funder has the following requirements.
Individuals must...
-Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
-Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment*; and,
-Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
*International students are not eligible participants.

 

DETAILS
-Earliest start date: May 11, 2020
-Term: May 11 – August 28, 2020 (TBC)
-Hours: 30-40 hours/week (TBC)
-Compensation: $14.10/hour
-Perks: Remote work options and flexible hours
-Must be able to make mandatory weekly team calls, team meetings in Mississauga and stakeholder meetings and events in Peel Region as required
