Job description

Background of Position : PRUSA MK3s Printer Assembly

We are looking to hire part-time positions to help assemble Prusa MK3 Digital Printers for the production of PPE materials. Attributes needed for a successful candidate include, but are not limited to:

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Patience when doing a detail orientated task.
  • Familiarity with printer, electrical or mechanical assembly.
  • Someone who enjoys putting things together and seeing a working finished product.
  • Someone with an interest in technology, mechanics, engineering or repairing everyday things.

The assembly and printer monitoring will take place at the Digital Mi’kmaq Halifax office, and abide by the health and safety standards to protect employee health as established by Health Canada in response to COVID-19.

The assembly of the MK3s printers takes approximately 10-15 hours from start to finish. Employees assembling printers are to follow the provided manual which demonstrates the process step by step, page by page, including detailed, and colour-coded pictures for assistance.

Employee Schedule

Printer Assembly employees must report for their shift about an hour before the previous shift is over, to discuss with the previous employees any machine issues that need to be addressed, as well as any other shipment related tasks that need to be completed/addressed during the shift. Crossover is necessary to ensure good communication and smooth operation.

Workers will be divided into shifts of 9-5, 4-12, or possibly 3-11. These times also optimize the ability of monitoring assembled printers and change printer configurations when necessary. After the printers are set up and any start up issues are dealt with (which could take 1-2 hours to address depending the amount of issues and the number of printers), the employee should then be free to address other assigned tasks to help with any ongoing printer issues, other production line tasks, shipping or other logistical tasks.

Benefits: Flexible working hours

Reference ID: 3-D Printers
