THE OPPORTUNITY

Kids Kottage Foundation is recruiting for a Follow Up Worker. The Follow Up Worker is responsible for providing family systems timely and effective support and assistance, increasing well-being, and resiliency. This also includes the integration of cultural and spiritual practices.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Candidate will provide assessments, referrals, group facilitation, case management, and consultations in a responsive environment.       

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Assists caregivers to create a nurturing, responsive and safe environment for their infants and children
  • Assists caregivers to find resources and support to develop strategies which facilitates a continuum of care within the community, and familial systems identified resources
  • Maintains comprehensive and appropriate documentation 
  • Stays abreast of all relevant and current legislation

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A post-secondary education in Social Work is preferred; however the following equivalencies will be considered: related university degree and related experience
  • Experience in human social services delivery
  • Experience working with or knowledge of Indigenous communities and culture will be considered an asset
  • Will be a self-starter who applies energy, vision, and flexibility to his/her work
  • Must provide and maintains current clear CYIM and Police Criminal Record checks

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of solution-focused counseling, motivational interviewing, the theory of change, strategies, adverse childhood experiences, brain architect, family violence, trauma-informed practices, Foundations of the Caregiver Support, Looksee checklist, ASQ3, ACES to PACES, Circle of Support and able to use them effectively
  • Skilled in facilitating learning groups              
  • Has familiarity with the developmental needs of infants and children up to 11 years old
  • Ability to think critically and innovatively
  • Has the ability to lift and carry infants and children
  • Maintains current certification in mandatory training
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and field related software 
  • Provides and maintains current clear CYIM and Police Criminal Checks according to policy and procedure
