Senior Manager, Finance and Strategy


Contributing to people, culture and innovation within the Corporate Services team, with an experienced understanding of the not for profit sector, the Senior Manager, Finance and Strategy will provide strategic leadership, consultation, and advice related to all financial aspects. This position is about providing value to the clients, the position serves which requires a strategic mindset, an excellent planner and one whom is committed to service excellence. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Senior Manager, Finance and Strategy, functionally has a broad mandate which includes financial accounting; financial analysis; reporting; strategic oversight budgeting and forecasting; and transactional accounting operations.

Your primary responsibilities

  • Provide collaborative leadership to an accounting team and oversee day to day effectiveness of staff by managing for highest performance
  • Plan strategic corporate initiatives for achieving value-add financial reporting and budget development
  • Drive process improvement activities that result in efficiencies and effectiveness for the accounting team and the organization generally
  • Coordinate month-end close process and ensure accuracy and completeness of monthly financial reporting package
  • Oversee, direct and coordinate all financial audits
  • Establish and monitor internal controls and regulatory compliance
  • Develop corporate financial policies and evaluate procedures to ensure appropriate compliance

You possess

  • Post-graduate degree in Business, Commerce or Accounting
  • Professional designation required, Chartered Professional Accountant
  • Minimum ten years’ experience in a financial leadership role
  • Prior experience in a not-for-profit organization and pension administration is an asset
  • Business acumen and tolerance for ambiguity with a customer service orientation that inspires and motivates others
  • Strong leadership philosophy based on collaboration and mentoring of teams
  • Superior attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills with a proven ability to manage competing timelines
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications is required; intermediate level excel proficiency, as well as  experience with Great Plains is an asset
  • Ability to build sustainable relationships both internally and externally to the organization
