The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will ensure the successful and efficient execution of payroll and compensation processes, including all related administrative processes.



This is a Temporary position for 12 months or until the return of incumbent.



Monday to Friday, 0900-1700, 40 hours per week (Full Time)

This position requires the ability to work flexible hours based on operational needs



Payroll and Compensation

  • Accountable for the company’s employee compensation and benefits system
  • Responds to employee payroll and benefit inquiries
  • Accountable for the smooth operation of bi-weekly payroll payments and employees’ benefits packages implementation
  • Understands laws and regulations pertaining to employee compensation and ensures standards are adhered to
  • Generates regular and ad hoc payroll reports as required



  • Accountable for all necessary onboarding and exit administration is done for employees
  • Accountable for the maintenance of accurate information with regard personnel files


Other/General Duties

  • Workers Compensation Board quarterly reports
  • Filing and other administrative duties
  • Employee reimbursements
  • Other activities as subsequently assigned



We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a proven ability to work within a fast-paced, growth-focused environment. The ideal candidate has:

  • Degree, diploma in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Five years of recent related experience
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation and/or actively pursuing designation preferred
  • Proficiency in HRIS software, preference for candidates with knowledge on Dayforce
  • Experience with operating within a unionized environment
  • Strong organizational, administrative skills, and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with a variety of individuals
  • Extensive experience with computers and proficiency in the use of appropriate software including the Microsoft Office suite, Windows, and Microsoft SharePoint
  • Proficiency with establishing priorities, implementing office systems, and taking initiative to identify areas of improvement or growth

Preference for candidates with knowledge of non-profit work environments, especially the Criminal Justice System and Developmental Disabilities.
