Status:  Temporary, Full time
Hours:  35 hours/week
Schedule:  Monday - Friday
Start Date:  June 1, 2020
End Date:  September 4, 2020 with possibility of extension

Closing Date:  May 24, 2020

 

The Opportunity: 

DIVERSEcity is seeking a Temporary, Full-Time Marketing Assistant to join our team.  The Marketing Assistant will support the organization as a whole, as well as its diverse programs and services.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists with the writing and editing of marketing collateral, including press releases, articles, e-newsletters, flyers, brochures, outreach packages and letters;
  • In consultation with the team lead, designs flyers and brochures to agency brand standards;
  • Assists with the creation of multimedia posts for social media and website;
  • Participates in the updating of the website and Google AdWords, and tracking of digital analytics;
  • Assists with developing content for, and posting content to all social media channels; helps develop social media calendars as needed;
  • In consultation with the supervisor, liaises with various departments to develop marketing content;
  • Helps plan and promote events, and supports various program teams’ attendance at community events and festivals.
  • Attends some events as needed, with some flexibility for evening and weekend events;
  • Responsible for the organization and upkeep of photo archive, ad and press clippings;
  • All other duties as directed by Manager/Supervisor.
Qualified candidates will possess:
 
  • Degree or Diploma in business administration, communications, marketing or related and;
  • 3 years professional employment experience, of an equivalent combination of training, education and experience;
  • Professional level verbal and written English communication skills;
  • Creative writing skills, editing skills and an understanding of how to develop compelling content;
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment, and juggle multiple projects at a time;
  • Experience with social media, multimedia content, SEO strategies;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, WordPress and Adobe Suite software; 
  • Knowledge of graphic design, or photography and videography;
  • Knowledge of immigrant and newcomer populations.

To provide meaningful employment experiences for youth, preference will be given to applicants who meet the following criteria:

  • Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment;
  • Valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

This position requires union membership.  A Criminal Record Check is a requirement of employment.
