The BC Aboriginal Child Care Society (BCACCS) is a Centre of Excellence for Indigenous early learning and child care. BCACCS undertakes research, develops training and resources, and provides services and leadership to support Indigenous communities throughout BC in creating high quality, culturally respectful, spiritually enriching community child care services that are based in the child’s culture, language and history.


Job Summary


BCACCS is currently seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Data Analyst. The successful candidate will assist in turning data into information, information into insight and insight into organizational decisions. The candidate will also create and maintain data storage and access by designing databases.

Principal Duties:


• Work with the Management Team to outline specific data needs for each department

• Develop systems for collecting data

• Acquire data from data sources and enter in/maintain databases

• Manage master data, including creation, updates, and deletion

• Interpret data and analyze results generating useful reports

• Identify and recommend ways to improve data collection

• Interpret patterns and trends

• Provide quality assurance of data

• Knowledge of First Nations Communities


Skills and Qualifications

 

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or Statistics

• 3+ years experience mining data as a data analyst

• Proven analytic skills, including mining, evaluation, analysis, and visualization

• Technical writing experience in relevant areas, including queries, reports, and presentations

• Strong SQL or Excel skills with the ability to learn other analytic tools

• Self-directed and able to work with minimum supervision

• Prior experience with database and model design and segmentation techniques

• Practical experience in statistical analysis

• Proven success in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
