Settling into Success Program Facilitator
Job Title: Settling into Success Program Facilitator Hours: 24 hours per week for 60 weeks (Beginning August 2020 and ending August 2021) Rate: $25.00 per hour Reports to: Executive Director and Program Coordinator
Settling into Success offers in-person services for eligible newcomers as they prepare to enter Alberta’s labour market. Through an ELL-focused lens, our project develops participants’ knowledge of Canadian work culture and provides tools for successful employment integration. In addition to resume writing and review, job interview training, and career counselling services, our project provides foundational knowledge of economic and social citizenship.
Planning, developing and instructing the Group-Based Employability Skills (GBES) learning programs associated with the Settling into Success program.
Ensuring that programs address the participants’ interests, needs and work experience placements.
The facilitator will help develop a curriculum which focuses on Canadian work culture. This includes planning lessons that will allow participants to gain meaningful employment and maintain the skills they learn from the program. Lessons must be tailored to the needs of each participant with an emphasis on the barriers, needs and special circumstances of English Language Learners (ELL) and Canadian newcomers.
In addition to providing the participants with relevant employment skills seminars and classroom instruction for a ten (10) week period, the facilitator will also provide one-on-one assistance to further assist participants in achieving their professional goals.
The facilitator is responsible for planning workshops that focus on job searching and application, networking and workplace etiquette, teamwork and conflict resolution, professional writing skills, basic math skills, how to obtain industry-specific certification, and other topics that will help participants succeed in labour market integration.
The facilitator must integrate Essential Skills and Group-Based Employability Skills into program delivery through the development of knowledge and skills for everyday learning, further learning or education and employment.
The facilitator will assist in the maintenance of records and statistics for internal and external reporting and evaluation.
The facilitator will submit briefs or written reports as required or requested by the Executive Director or Program Coordinator.
Related certificate or degree from an accredited post-secondary institution, or equivalent experience/training.
Knowledge and skills relevant to helping newcomers develop employment literacy, numeracy and essential skills.
Experience working with ELL population and knowledge of adult learning principles.
Ability to work respectfully with people of various cultures and backgrounds.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Essential Skills, and labour integration resources, programs and services.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
