Norwood Child and Family Resource Centre is an Edmonton based non-profit organization that has been supporting children and families since 1963, with a vision of Healthy Children, Healthy Families, Healthy Communities. Our programs and services are designed to strengthen and enrich families with children birth – 6 years old. The Receptionist provides support for Norwood by answering the phones, greeting visitors, and providing administrative support for staff. As one of the first people that visitors and participants meet at the Agency, the Receptionist models the values of the Agency through a friendly, compassionate and professional manner.

This position requires a flexible work schedule that includes frequent shifts to 6:30 pm.

Reporting to the Operations Team Lead, the Receptionist is responsible for the following:

  • Answering, screening and forwarding incoming phone calls
  • Greeting visitors and answering basic inquiries about the Agency’s services and programs and/or referring questions to the appropriate staff and/or services in the community
  • Providing administrative support to staff, i.e. faxing, typing minutes, printing and collating documents, booking appointments, laminating, building reference binders, creating promotional materials, etc.
  • Coordinating internal IT Equipment bookings
  • Providing basic troubleshooting and maintenance of office equipment
  • Opening, closing and securing the building as scheduled

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Certificate in Office Administration or an equivalent program
  • Minimum of  2 years’ experience in a busy reception or office administration environment
  • Advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Publisher)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Expertise with accurate data entry and the ability to navigate around databases
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Criminal Record Check and Child Welfare Intervention Record Check (findings will be reviewed on a case by case basis)

The following qualifications are considered an asset:

  • Experience working with children and families from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Experience working with Office 365

The starting hourly range for this role is $20.36-$22.91 per hour ($37,055-$41,696 per year) based on a 35-hour week.
