       Position Type: Full-Time, 35 hours/week

       Location: 18 King Street East, Bolton ON                

       Starting Salary Range:  $85,000 to $90,000

Agency Overview: Within our own five community service locations, six Peel Living buildings, and throughout the entirety of the Town of Caledon, Caledon Community Services (CCS) is helping shape the future of a caring and engaged Caledon community. We turn 50 next year! Our programs address community needs in a uniquely challenging and increasingly diverse GTA community. CCS is home to Caledon’s only accessible transportation program, the Exchange Community Hub that includes food supports and a range of activities, the Caledon Specialist Clinic, and personal support services for seniors. We offer settlement services and language classes for newcomers and comprehensive employment services for job seekers and local businesses. We provide paid training programs for Caledon youth as well as exciting internships and volunteer opportunities. Position Overview: Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director, Finance & Infrastructure is responsible for the development, implementation, management and continuous evaluation of financial management systems, business operations, controls and policy compliance within CCS. The Director also provides leadership and direction to two Managers and a team of staff working in operational support roles including Payroll and Accounts, Human Resources (professional and volunteer), Executive Services and Assets/Facilities. The Director is a member of the Senior Management Team, collaborating with all Agency Directors to achieve strategic and program goals.

 

Position Deliverables/Accountabilities: Under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Director, Finance & Infrastructure:

    • Oversees and directs the activities of a team of professionals who provide an array of services that support operational effectiveness; scope of oversight includes performance management, risk management, and training and development.
    • Consults with and provides operational and strategic information, advice and expertise to the Agency’s Board of Directors, Chief Executive Officer and Senior Management Team regarding finance, human resources, facilities, legislative and contract compliance.
    • Works collaboratively with funders, donors, partners, other stakeholders and CCS staff/volunteers to ensure achievement of Agency strategic and operational objectives.
    • Develops annual budget with CEO and presents it to the Board of Directors for approval; provides monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to all funders on matters related to finance and service targets; provides monthly reporting to the Board of Directors.
    • Mitigates risk by implementing, monitoring and evaluating programs and processes that ensure fiscal integrity and efficiency and comply with funders’ contracts and donor commitments.
    • Directly supports the Board of Directors’ Audit and Finance Committee.
    • Liaises with the agency’s external auditors and investment advisors.
    • As a member of the Agency’s senior management team, participates in strategic planning processes, shares resources and works collaboratively to achieve portfolio and broader agency goals and the realization of CCS’ Vision, Mission and Values.
    • Serves as acting CEO as required.

Qualification Criteria

Education

  • Post-graduate degree in relevant field such as Accounting, Finance, Business Management
  • Professional CPA designation or working towards designation an asset

Nature of Experience Required

  • 5-7 years of related experience
  • Accounting, financial management and budget planning
  • Training and directing staff
  • Coordinating multiple and diverse activities
  • Management experience in the Not-for-Profit sector an asset

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Accounting principles and practices
  • Financial management principles and practices
  • Budgetary planning
  • Software applications for multiple data management and reporting requirements
  • Familiarity with legislation affecting charities and provincial and federal tax regulations
  • General knowledge of information technology systems and facilities operations
  • Sound supervisory skills
